On the morning of September 5th, Ying Zhang, Vice Director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization, led a team to visit the National Center of Technology Innovation for Smart Process Manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as NCTI-SPM), which is led by East China University of Science and Technology. The visit included an exchange meeting where progress on process software-related work was presented, and discussions were held on related technologies, domestic substitution rates, and application prospects. Academician Feng Qian of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Wenli Du , Director of NCTI-SPM, accompanied the visit. They engaged in in-depth discussions on recent work at NCTI-SPM, digital transformation in manufacturing, and the cultivation of industrial software.
During the exchange meeting, Feng Qian pointed out that digital transformation should start from individual points, extend to lines, and then expand to broader areas, creating benchmark demonstrations. Shanghai is highly suitable for the cultivation and implementation of industrial software, and he expressed hope for accelerating the promotion and application of industrial software in process manufacturing industries such as petrochemicals, metallurgy, building materials, and steel.
Ying Zhang emphasized the need to further leverage the leading role of innovation platforms. Firstly, it is essential to focus on the digital transformation needs of process-oriented industries, leveraging the advantages of the national innovation center to break through more core industrial software technologies and develop comprehensive solutions. Secondly, it is important to establish benchmark demonstrations for digital transformation in process manufacturing, actively cultivating chain leader enterprises to practice digital transformation and drive the transformation and upgrading of upstream and downstream enterprises. Thirdly, the transformation mechanism should be optimized, with increased support for innovation institutions to promote the efficient conversion of innovative achievements.
The National Center of Technology Innovation for Smart Process Manufacturing is jointly established by East China University of Science and Technology, Shanghai Innovation Institute for Smart Process Manufacturing, University of Science and Technology Beijing, Wuhan University of Technology, China Petroleum & Chemical Corporation, China National Petroleum Corporation, Sinochem Group, and 16 other enterprises. The center builds on East China University of Science and Technology's foundational research, technological innovation, and engineering applications in smart process manufacturing for industries such as petrochemicals, biochemicals, and coal chemicals. It aims to develop a series of internationally leading industrial software products and create a global innovation hub for smart process manufacturing technology.
Officials from the Software and Information Services Division of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Informatization and the Shanghai Industrial Internet Association also participated in the research visit.
