Vice Mayor Wei Wu of Nanjing Led a Delegation to Visit the National Center of Technology Innovation for Smart Process Manufacturing

To actively advance and implement the important guiding principles of promoting high-quality integrated development of the Yangtze River Delta, on the morning of December 13th, 2023, Wei Wu, Vice Mayor of the Nanjing Municipal People's Government, and Xiaoming Zheng, Deputy Secretary-General, along with their delegation, visited the National Center of Technology Innovation for Smart Process Manufacturing (hereinafter referred to as the NCTI-SPM) for a research visit. They were accompanied by Feng Qian, Chief Scientist of the NCTI-SPM, and Wenli Du, Director of the NCTI-SPM.

During the symposium, Wei Wu expressed that this visit aimed to implement the provincial party committee and government's requirements for scientific and technological innovation deployment and to learn from the advanced experience of East China University of Science and Technology in establishing national technology innovation centers. Nanjing, as the strategic core of the Yangtze River Economic Belt, is not only the capital of Jiangsu Province but also a key node in the Yangtze River Delta Economic Zone. Wu hoped to jointly build a high-level scientific and technological innovation platform with the NCTI-SPM to help key manufacturing enterprises in Nanjing solve technical problems, form innovative industrial clusters with distinctive advantages around Nanjing's benchmark application scenarios, empower industrial transformation with greater efforts, and support Nanjing in its efforts to build a globally influential industrial science and technology innovation center.

Feng Qian reviewed the history of industry-academia-research cooperation with leading enterprises in Nanjing, such as Sinopec Yangzi Petrochemical Co.,Ltd and Nanjing Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. Qian pointed out that the NCTI-SPM and Nanjing coexist along the Yangtze River Economic Belt, and many industries are highly compatible with the disciplinary advantages of East China University of Science and Technology. Qian hoped to practically promote cooperation between the two parties in scientific and technological innovation, enterprise demand matching, industry-academia-research cooperation, and industrial transformation and upgrading, focusing on the key development directions of Nanjing's industries. Qian also expressed a wish to jointly promote the establishment of the Jiangsu Branch of the NCTI-SPM with Nanjing, making it a leading and driving scientific and technological innovation platform and a new highland for industrial software development. Wenli Du, director of the NCTI-SPM, reported on the center's target positioning, construction process, organizational structure, and operational mode.

Before the meeting, Vice Mayor Wei Wu and his delegation visited the NCTI-SPM's ethylene virtual factory and full-process optimization system, as well as its intelligent manufacturing system and industrial software exhibitions and related system demonstrations.

Relevant comrades from the General Office of the Nanjing Municipal People's Government, the Science and Technology Bureau, the Bureau of Industry and Information Technology, the Nanjing Office in Shanghai, the Science and Technology Development Research Institute of East China University of Science and Technology, the School of Information Science and Engineering, and the NCTI-SPM also participated in the symposium and exchanges.
